Why does my cat hate to be held? He gets mad and ends up scratching me. He also has a weak and hoarse meow.
Then he doesn't like to be held, or he's just sick. Take him to a vet about the weak and hoarse meow, but the holding is just because he's not used to humans or doesn't like you.

Or he could be injured in some way. That was another reason I came up with

We have taken him to the vet and everything checked out. I suppose he doesn't like to be held as he used to be a feral cat. We rescued him ;3
He loves me, as he greets me when I walk in and rubs his face on any part of me accessable. As soon as I pick him up though, it's a very big "HELL NO".
He doesn't like to be held, simple as that.
