Yeah, I've seen that film. Greatest film ever in my mind.

But I do know a lot of coding, I just can't get this one part as the code was made by someone else (a fellow partner of mine who hasn't been able to work on the site with me for a while). I have made a lot of the other stuff though.
If you're looking to release any sort of community site where you're dealing with other peoples details you need to secure it.
Yes, I do know that.

I'm looking into encrypting the passwords, and getting a https in the address bar.

You don't encrypt the passwords, and adding http secure won't do a great deal extra in all honesty. You have to secure the database. The passwords don't mean anything really, since there's other information there that people don't want revealed to just anyone. If they can get into the database, who needs the passwords? There's other information within the database that people might be interested in. Just depends on what the hacker is after.
Then what would you suggest for securing the databases?
