So lets say my site is example.freehost.com Then I buy a domain and point it to the hosting so now its mysite.com So can I have subdomains like news.mysite.com on that same hosting ? Also is SEO affected by whether the hosting is free or a paid one ?

Yes. You can have subdomains on free hosting. 100% sure on 000webhost as i've used it myself.
