I use VMware Workstation for Backtrack. especially since I didn't want to take the time to make an iso out of it.
VMware player is free(not a trial) and since version 3.x it allows to create VM unlike previous versions.
VirtualBox is also pretty good and free as well

Vbox can run multiple vm at the same time as opposed to VMware player(you need vmware workstation for that)
Yes use Virtual Box its a pretty awesome thing.
If you're trying to use this for running suspicious files it's not very infected. Alot of malware self-inject or have anti-containment so they can't be run inside the contained box
I would get virtual box, that is what i use
You could use a sandbox such as Sandboxie.
If your running Windows 7 Professional you can get a free windows Xp virtual Machine. Heres a post on it that explains it.

Its a really smooth Virtual Machine. Way better than VMware.
Wish I would've known of this... because VMware is pretty laggy/slow for me. But I am on win7 ultimate Sad
