I was an administrator on my own forum a couple of years ago.
I have learned how MyBB works from the age of 13. I really know how to edit templates, change theme, database optimizing, and other stuff. Smile
Yeah I do some administration of Forums.
I'm mainly a system admin.
Advice I would give is never let things become personnal.
It's easier to work if you just do general chats to the owner instead of detailed conversation of who you are. It complicates things. Well at least from my experience.
Yes I have, I learned that pretty much everyone wants more than what they have. No matter what you give them they want more. Additionally, being a user and having an admin abuse their power on me, inspired me to be completely fair.
I've learned my way around the vBulletin and MyBB administrator panels (my own forums).
I learned that you gotta keep things in line. And, you must stay active.
At one time I was a Super Moderator at a larger forum, quite a time consuming job.

I have been Administrator at a few forums, I've used IPB, vBulletin, phpBB, and now MyBB. Taking the time to learn each of the softwares properly was very time consuming and was a very difficult task, but now I've settled down with MyBB and I don't think I'll ever move from it. It's definitely the easiest forum software to install and run on a day-to-day basis, and the plugin feature is amazing, it's so easy to install modifications compared to other forum softwares, phpBB in particular. I now officially love MyBB! Smile
I have owned MANY forum, Admin at so many more.
I have used everything that is out.
EX: phpBB, myBB, vB, IPB, Webs, Forumotion, others.
I've been asked to admin or moderate 3 sites. Turned some down, but I don't know ;D
I learned that you really need teamwork with other staff.
I have been an administrator on a couple of minor forums. I have learned that it is important to stay active, and communicate with the members. Otherwise, the forum is helpless. Smile

DONT TAKE IT TO HEART!
MAKE IT FUN!

But ultimately this.
