Virtualization is a simple and efficient tool that helps us to maximize the efficiency and power of computers. In the simplest of words it allows a single computer to do the functions of many. That is it allows a many one relationship in computing. Nowadays as the server costs are reducing many of us tend to follow a one to one model, i.e. one server used for one computer. This is a highly unproductive methodology. Virtualization helps to put an end to this.
Correct use of virtualization will help us to utilize our server capacities to the maximum. In the current scenario, most of the server utilization just comes to about 15 to 20 percent. So we can see that about 80 to 85 percent of the server capacity remains unutilized and this needs to be decreased. This is the same with millions of servers across the industry.
