Good Linux Distros
#11
I currently run openSUSE and Fedora. They are both very good distros:
  • openSUSE is very easy to configure (with YaST, an all-in-one exclusive configuration software). ++
  • Fedora is very great, but it can be hard to install proprietary software (like flash). -
  • Fedora has almost always the latest version of all open-source software. +
  • Fedora is more hard to configure than openSUSE. -
If you are newbie, I recommend you openSUSE.
(I find Ubuntu very unstable.)

The best way to choose a Linux distro is to try several and choose the one that best suits your tastes.
You can use virtualization software like VirtualBox if you want to test an OS without break your current system.

Many friends told me that Ubuntu is the best if you never had used any Linux distribution and OpenSU is for experienced users from what I've heard.

I gave it to total beginners and they did not had any problems with it.
Of course, I had to show them the basic operation (installation, system configuration and software installation with YaST, usage of KDE, etc), but it is the same for each distro.
Documentation/official wiki is great also.

Fedora, CentOS, and Red Hat are very good, from what I have heard.
Of course, you should usually only use Linux if you are skilled at computers (with the exception of Ubuntu).

Mac OS X uses Unix, and it is easy to use, although not open-source.

We run CentOS mostly for servers. Fedora made for nice desktop systems.

Arch is extremely easy, the Arch wiki has tons of information. I recommend Debian if you want to go a little more in depth.
You could also try Slackware if you think you're ready for it.

However, if you want to try something new. Try FreeBSD.

Fedora or CentOS. If you're looking for a lightning fast computer.. get Lubuntu I loved it for the time I used it.

I like Linux Distro.
But I am not a fan of Linux as an "overall"
