Many missing files - Hijackthis log
#1
Hello. I just bought an hp pavilion dv6. Right now, it is really slow. It even freezes up when I am surfing online. So, I decided use hijackthis to see what the problem was. When I scan it using hijackthis, I copied the log into a free hijackthis analyzer and it indicated that I have many missing files which is harmful to my computer. When I fix check it, hijackthis said they are unable to fix and and recommended me to download lspfix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm to solve it. So i downloaded it and it turns out nothing was wrong when I ran the program. So, I ran sypbot and symantics to try and clear it up, but it didn't find anything wrong either. Here is my hijackthis log. Please help! Thank you.

Loads of missing files your correct.
If you just purchased it wouldnt it be best to take it back to the supplier and ask for a refund/replacement?

Me personally i would just reinstall windows on it. But thats me.

are the missing files important? Is there no other way to fix it?

Does your printer and other devices still work?
I am doing a bit of reading up on HJT and windows 7. Seems there is a bug there that shows false errors.

yes. All my devices works fine. The only thing that seems to be a problem is that my laptop is slow. It freezes up from time to time.

Then you are definitely getting errors with HJT.

Your printer would not work without spoolsv.
Whats the specs on the lappy?
Ram and processor i mean.

Okay, they seem to be for the majority Windows files, run this command in an elevated command prompt, reboot. Let me know how it works out for you Smile

Code:
sfc /scannow

Press the Windows Key on your keyboard (the symbol) and hold it down, then press the "R" key while holding the Windows key down. A Run command should now come up. Type in "cmd" and Hit Enter. Now enter in the command I gave above, and hit enter.

You don't even really need cmd prompt to do this. The run command should send the arguments to sfc being that it's in the System32 folder so it acts like another environment variable. If you wanted you could run "sfc /scannow" in the Run command that comes up after the shortcut of {Windows Key} + R.
