[Tutorial] Install Ports on FreeBSD
#1
As always brought to you by my blog http://bsdpunk.blogspot.com

Ok let's say you did a basic FreeBSD install and you are ready to go. You, of course go to install nmap as your firstapp:
cd /usr/ports

DOH! You forgot to install ports from the cd. That's ok I got you covered.

#mkdir /usr/ports
#portsnap fetch
This downloads a snapshot of the ports
#portsnap extract
exctracts the ports to /usr/ports

Portsnap rocks...it's made the already easy to use ports of FreeBSD even easier to use.
Superman I am here to rescue you.

This saved my ass once, downloading 50mb of text files hurts a bit though.
