VMware on Ubuntu
#1
As a newbie to Ubuntu and a user of VMware thought a couple of years, I thought it would be a good idea to have a virtual windows machine on my computer.
That way I can always start up the windows machine if there should be some problems with Ubuntu that I could not handle right away.

I ran into some problem installing Workstation on Ubuntu though. It seems that VMware's VMCI Socket module to compile when installing. I experienced this on bought Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10

if you guys should run into this problem, I wanted to spare you the trouble I went to and give you the patch files I used to make it work:

This patch is for VMware workstation 7.0 and Ubuntu 10.04

This patch is for VMware workstation 7.1 and Ubuntu 10.10

I you should have some questions about installing VMware on Ubuntu, feel free to ask, and I will answer to the best of my knowledge. Smile
