DDoS Protection - MasterZuFu - 05-22-2010

I don't know how reliable these services are, but I know I don't know jack squat about mitigating a DDoS attack. So far, and I seriously mean this, the best DDoS Mitigation Professional I've ever seen is Omni. He's taken on some pretty hefty hits and lived to see the end of the day with them.

But I don't know what I'm doing, so I figured someone out there must know. So I googled "DDoS Protection", and a few sites came up that seem interesting.

Anyone got any further information or better ideas? Please share them!

Most of the VPS servers have DDOS protection provided by CISCO, get a good VPS.

Yup do this. Almost every host provides it.

blockdos is good I believe, I have used it before Smile

Well if your not running a huge enterprise website, then try cloudflare. It's free handles all traffic and will defend your webserver against any malicious traffic before it gets to you, a network level is the only real way you will combat ddos attacks.

I wouldn't be reliant on a company to block out incoming attacks (cost reasons), I'd suggest looking into mitigating attacks as that's what most large sites and forums do these days.

Right, here's a couple of pointers;

1. Never buy DDoS protection.
2. If you're ever DDoSed and the attacks keep happening just contact you're host to change the IP.
3. Use free "protection" scripts, most of the time they don't work so no point.
