I have heard that people make money making websites. Is it true or is it just spam? I am planning to make my own website, will I be able to make some money?

Sure you can make money.
But its not as simple as making a site then it will make you money.
You need to either sell something or at the very least advertise on it.
Even then you need traffic to actually visit your site to click on your ads.
Not as easy as it sounds actually.
