You're asking if the specs are good or you want the best combination? There's some discrepancy between the title and the post itself on that note.

I would say that if you want the best for your money:
-Intel® Core™ i5 2467M 1.6GHz (3MB Cache)
-English Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
-4096MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048] (4GB, most people hardly use that much, but it should be fine for general use)
-2GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M

Don't go with any less than 4GB RAM if you're planning to run Windows 7 64 bit.

The rest is up to you. The only real downside from my experience to Windows 7 versions is that group policy editor is not placed on any Windows 7 version below Professional. So you won't have that on Home Premium, HOWEVER... It can be installed.

It's basically like a program, there's no saying that you can't have it installed on your computer unless it doesn't fit the requirements. Gpedit is basically just like a GUI interface to edit specific registry values.

I'm not considering buying it, I was just taking a look at it, it looks sleek as is a gaming laptop, an alien ware.

Oh well in that case, just go with the best out of the list for each item Smile

What will you be doing with this laptop as most of them high specs may be a waste.

Will you be gaming with this ?
Will you be editing with Photoshop or videoing editing ?

If you just want to browse the web then Get this

The best computers to get are none. You should always custom build your own computer ;).

Always a 2nd gen i7 3000k+ (lots of ghz, mine is 3.8, 4.0 overclocked).
1.5gb (could be higher, just some games require 1gb) AMD Radeon HD 6770 +(6990 at the best) (dual is fine, single is fine it doesn't really matter. It runs BF3 smoothly). Or any graph card is the GTX series (that's atleast above 550).
Windows 7 home premium/Microsoft Office/Kaspersky (I don't know if microsoft office comes with windows7).
1tb+ in space.
8gb+ in RAM.

Although, if you get these specs it will be great for gaming. Also, any gaming computer is good for personal use, it's just fast/optimized for gaming which is what scares parents off to get their children a computer.

That processor is HORRIBLE. You didn't even mention anything about the ram. He would need a good processor to even do most things at a certain speed. If not it will be a waste.

I would say those specs are average. They'd be able to handle most games just fine I'm sure.

RE: Are These Specs Good? - Detroit - 06-28-2012

They are ok specs just depends on what you plan to do with them

RE: Are These Specs Good? - Donrulezz - 08-23-2012

core i7 and core i5 with atealst 2.0 would be a great spec.

Intel i7 and an i5? Now why would you need both? Huh
