Quick AMD Question - Xzotic - 12-19-2010 My dad got a new computer, and says I can mess with the older crappy computer. Its a Dell Inpiron 531 I believe running on a AMD x2. My question is , can I replace the AMD x2 with a AMD x4 quad core. Might seem like a nub question, but its my first time doing this such thing without knowing for sure if it will work. Thanks. RE: Quick AMD Question - AceInfinity - 12-19-2010 Yeah, you can upgrade from Dual Core processors to Quad Core. RE: Quick AMD Question - Dexdrex007 - 12-21-2010 again, like i posted on your thread on hf, it depends on your mobo, if it is socket 939, you cant, if you have am2 , you can. RE: Quick AMD Question - Spooony - 12-21-2010 Your going to have a bios update. Then you cant use any of the x4 processors over 95w it won't work RE: Quick AMD Question - aggouras - 03-13-2011 It really depends on your motherboard. RE: Quick AMD Question - Nemmyy - 03-13-2011 Find us your motherboard model and we can let you know for sure. RE: Quick AMD Question - Mous - 03-20-2011 I don't know why you'd bother, Duo core ftw. |
