[PS TUT] Cool background - Untouch - 08-11-2010

I'm going to show you how to make a cool looking background.

First thing you do is create a new file. I made one 1200 x 900 px.
Fill the new file with black by using the paint bucket tool.

After you have a black background use the gradient tool and make the
result look similar to mine. Make sure the grey / white part is in the middle.

Now make sure all the layers are merged. (layer > Flatten Image)
Then go to Filter > Distort > Wave and input the following settings.

Your result should look something similar to mine. You can always
undo if you don't like it and click randomise until you find a style for you.

The final step is to add a gradient and make it colourful. I picked a default
gradient and set it to reflected style and angle 0.
Now set the gradient layer to overlay or color.

Hope you like it. Having any problems feel free to pm me or post a reply.
Would be nice to see other people's outcomes too.

Kind Regards
Untouch

I always wondered how people made stuff like that

I've been using Clouds > Mosaic > Find edges > radial blur or whatever for like 4 months, thanks

Thanks, that is really nice of you! I used to use GIMP and hated all the tutorials about being for PS. Thanks again.

Haha..I've thought so it can be done on GIMP because it's only a few step and GIMP also has the filter too..
