These websites ping & notifies multiple services that keep track of weblogs and publish them.
By pinging, you let the services know that your blog/website has been updated and hence, they crawl/index/update your blog/website pages quicker.

Pinging could be easily done in CMD by typing
"ping website.com"

And on these websites, mentioned above.
Pinging is checking if a site is up , and more.

Because some of these websites ping out to hundreds of services in a matter of seconds, i updated the original post.

Nice sharing.Here i wish to add another way to check ping test.
You can check your website ping rate by using two ways
1.Using command prompt
2.Using online site
Recently i checked ask.com ping rate at http://www.whoisxy.com/ .I got results within a minute.It's one of the best method to check website ping than command prompt.Using this method you reduce your valuable time
