I have never gotten a virus when I was using either one of them, but I have always been cautious of other AV's because most of the other ones (latest releases) haven't been as good. I need to reinstall Norton soon.

I've never experienced a worse Anti-Virus than Norton in all my life. It's horrible, or at least it was when I used to use it.
BitDefender is great though. Definitely recommend it.

I agree with all, other than Microsoft Essentials. Never liked it.
Other 4 are good though.

I've been running McAfee for 2+ years and have never been infected.

I download torrents frequently.

What version of Norton did you use? If it's any earlier than 2010, then I wouldn't use it. You have to get the 360 version too, and it's up there as one of the best. You can't say it's horrible though, the detection rates on that particular AV are actually rated pretty high.

That's quite a poor setup you have there. One of your security programs should have at least a real-time protection module.

I concur.
One week is more than enough for malware to cause harm to your system.
Either get a real-time scanner, or scan every hour.

MalwareBytes Anti Malware is the best for me. I scan once a day Smile

Well it isn't really an anti-virus therefore if you only have that, then you are missing a lot of things.

I def think ESET has the best data bases and seem to always be the first ones to detect viruses
