A few months ago, after my Vista took a random crap on me, I decided that I would use Ubuntu for the first time in my life. I downloaded it and burned a copy of it on my friends computer. Installed it, used it fine. As I started to use it, I learned about Windows 7, and I really wanted to try the beta out.

I didn't know how to work with all that partition stuff, so I ended up saving Windows 7 over the Ubuntu I had (and the old windows 7).

As of right now, the only OS I have on my laptop is a Windows 7 Beta. However, I am definatly interested in running Ubuntu again, but I would like to have Windows 7 be bootable aswell, which I have no idea how to do.

But thats not the problem I am having. Everytime I try to re-install Ubuntu, I get this error.



Does anyone have any ideas?

It seems others have had troubles with w7/ubuntu as well. Here's an option, but you'd have to wipe Windows 7 and install Ubuntu first >.<

I need to back up my Windows 7 documents on an external HDD, but do you have any idea what route I can go to get rid of Windows 7?

I recommend getting Partition Magic 8. Then, just delete your main partition; it should force restart. Alternatively, get a Windows XP disc and run it, and use the built-in partitioner to delete all partitions.

I have an idea! Forget 7, forget Vista.

Come back to XP, we have cookies.

Looks like the installer is trying to download a new ISO.

Burn the ISO and have it write it along side w7, which is simple. When you boot the installer, select the option to create a new partition for it, and it does the rest for you.

I've done it before, and it has worked fine. Try Wubi installer for windows. Does all the work for you.

Have you tried installing Ubuntu inside Windows 7 on the same partition? or is this not an option?
