So I borrowed my friend my USB stick and he afraid that my data will lose, he backed up on his computer. Then turns out installing Ubuntu on it won't affect my files. Now, I remember he copied my files (some stuff that is only family members should see) should I ask him did he delete the files or what should I do? I feel bad if I ask him the question...

Why would you feel bad for asking him?

If you do not ask you will not know. So it is best to as in spite of how bad it may feel
