iPads are for people who have everything in the world and Don't know what to spend their money on . It isn't an important must have gaget .
It's expensive because it's made by Apple. I think a Samsung galaxy tab can do the same (I'm not sure about that, you should ask your friends if they have one).
It's completely worthy. I always select Ipad over any other gadget.

I think you'll find that the Samsung Galaxy Tab is the same / sometimes more expensive than the Apple iPad. It's not 'expensive because it's made by Apple' it's expensive because it's a superb piece of gadgetry and has high manufacturer costs.

It's expensive because Apple as a company like to rip people off, and they know they can get away with it. There's no excusing the price tags they put on their products lol.

Samsung are a ripoff company as well? Considering their price tag for the galaxy tab is equal to or greater than that of the iPad? No.

The price of the iPad is competitive in the market. It doesn't need an excuse, it's the going rate.

I wasn't talking about Samsung though, I was talking about Apple. I know it's the going rate, but it shouldn't be is the point I'm trying to make.. £400 for what's essentially just a portable, hand held internet browser, is just stupid. I know it has more features than that, but anyone buying an iPad is just wasting their money. Apple try to brainwash people through advertising into making people think that it's the "must have" gadget, when quite frankly, it's not.

If you're a millionaire, then fair enough, splash out on something you probably will hardly ever use, but if you're an ordinary hard working person with not much money to spend on such "luxuries", then really don't even consider buying one.
New gadgets are always going to have a going rate because they are in demand. You say £400 for a portable Internet browser is stupid (which it would be) but then you admit yourself that it's a lot more than just an Internet browser.

Tablet computing, wether it be an iPad, Galaxy tab or otherwise isn't a waste of money if they fit your needs (and they do fit many people's needs).

Some people don't want a full blown desktop or laptop. Some people just want something to browse the web, watch a movie, read a book, draft up a document, keep track of finances, all within the small tablet formfactor. The things you can do on a tablet aren't very limited.

I would agree that it's not a "must have" gadget if you've already got a working desktop/laptop, but they're more marketed at people that don't already have any of that. But that doesn't mean to say that if you already have a desktop/laptop, then the iPad isn't a great addition.
@Load

I don't think you're understanding me lol. I'm not just talking about the iPad, I'm talking about Apple in general, whether their products are new or old, and comparing their prices with other similar products out there. I said I know it has more features than just a browser, but my point was that the other features are like add-ons (not hugely important or needed by many), and even with those add-ons, it's still a stupid amount of money. People aren't buying iPads because they think they're a great idea.. They're buying them because of the Apple logo on the back, the looks of it, and the fact that Apple are making out like it's the future of technology, when in fact it's just a bigger version of the iPhone, (nothing that hasn't already been done before).

I understand what you're trying to say but I think (without trying to sound offensive here), you're one of those people who Apple have effectively brainwashed. I know tons of people who absolutely love Apple, and can't use anything but Apple products... You ask them why they love Apple so much, and they can't even think of a decent reason, all they say is "It looks nice, and it doesn't get viruses". (Granted, more intellectual people like yourself could give a reason, but I'm talking about the general public who seem to be buying Apple stuff just "because everyone else is").

Could you give me a decent explanation of why the iPad is worth the £400+ price??
